Super GT 2005 - Twin Ring Motegi Feb 15, 2006 [Total:7]
I've raced at Twin Ring Motegi more than I've shot it. This was my second time there as a photographer, and the first time was to cover Indy300 on the big oval track, so I spent much of the time learning the road racing circuit. I remember the day as being hot and bright, making for a lot of heat haze in the longer shots.

The Race Queens of Super GT - Twin Circuit Motegi 2005 Feb 15, 2006 [Total:7]
Sometimes I have to shoot more than just the cars and race drivers. Super GT's race queens are somewhat notorious, after all, by some estimates a quarter of the attendees at a Super GT event are there just for them!

Super GT round 4, Sugo Sep 28, 2005 [Total:7]
Super GT tries to hit all of the major circuits of Japan, and round 4 was Sugo's turn. Located near Sendai, this is an older circuit with lots of character. The elevation changes are quite extreme in some locations, and there is a good mix of tight corners and long straights. This was a difficult track for many of the drivers, with a large variety of shunts and crashes making it a race of attrition. In the end it was a Supra sweep in GT500, a bit of history in the making.

2005 D1 Grand Prix at Odaiba Aug 19, 2005 [Total:7]
Odaiba turned out to be both fairly easy and fairly difficult to shoot at. It is basically a big parking lot, and there was not anything in the way of shooting pits in the center, coupled with only a few corners. This created a lot of shots that looked somewhat the same, as there was only about two positions to shoot from! The actual event itself was fun to watch, though, despite occasional rain showers and massive amounts of tire smoke.

Evo IX at Fuji Speedway Short Course May 10, 2005 [Total:7]
Evolution is an apt descriptor for this series at this point in time, for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX is just that, an evolution of the Evo 8 MR. There is a little more power due to the addition, finally, of MIVEC variable camshaft timing and some other minor tweaks. This mainly affects day to day driving, as a back to back impression vs. the Evo 8 MR revealed very little differences. Handling is much the same as well. The real area of change is quite welcome. It's in the fit and finish of this model, along with some spiffier interior appointments. These combine to give it much more of a real car feeling, something you can really appreciate at every moment of car ownership.
